Before you can work for a company in Curaçao, you must have been employed by means of a work permit. This means that the company in Curaçao needs a work permit before you can apply for a residence permit to work.
A work permit is therefore applied for on behalf of the company at the Vergunningloket in Curaçao. When this is approved, you as an employee can apply for a work permit.

Prior to the application process, the employer must register the vacancy with the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare. Applying for a work permit takes approximately 3 – 4 months, after which the permit can be applied for for you as an employee. This is is one work permit and also lasts about 4 – 5 months.

Is a work permit required?
If you have a nationality other than the Dutch or American nationality, the company where you will be working is obliged to have a work permit. There is no possibility to apply for a work permit for you without a work permit.

Please note: at the moment you can request two options, namely for 0 – 6 months (500 ANG – Guldens) and 6 – 12 months (1000 ANG – Guldens).
